Love's Higher Frequency: Why Authenticity Isn't the Ultimate Vibration

What happens when we challenge popular spiritual beliefs? In this thought-provoking exploration of authenticity and vibrational frequency, I dive deep into a viral claim that's been spreading across social media—the notion that authenticity is the highest vibrational frequency, even higher than love itself.

Drawing on scientific studies, spiritual wisdom, and personal insight, I unpack why this claim misinterprets the SPANE scale research and doesn't align with deeper spiritual understanding. The truth? Love—not preferential love but love as the source field of consciousness—represents the highest frequency, the animating intelligence flowing through all things. We are like light bulbs for this universal current, most authentic when we allow it to flow through us unobstructed.

Brother David Steindl-Rast's wisdom resonates throughout this episode: "Our true nature is the vital awareness that pervades all realms of our being. It's what brings us alive. And wherever we may come alive, this is the area in which we are spiritual." This perfectly captures the paradox at the heart of spiritual awakening—that what we're seeking is already here. We don't need to become something else to be authentic; we need to remove the obstacles blocking our natural expression.

Using the metaphor of a projector, I explain how our wounds and limiting beliefs become filters on our lens of reality, coloring everything we create and experience. Healing work is essentially cleaning that lens so our light shines more purely. As Carl Jung said, "It is the privilege of a lifetime to become who you truly are"—not by adding something, but by removing what isn't truly you.

The episode concludes with my personal guide to being unshakable: Root in your truth. Let your radiance be non-negotiable. Say yes to what lights you up and no to what dims your fire. Remember who you are and never abandon yourself for someone else's comfort. Your authentic frequency truly is the frequency that will change the world.

Joya:

You are listening to. We Woke Up Like this and I am your host, rev Joya. This is a show dedicated to embodied spiritual awakening and we love to talk about the messy magic of living a soul-led life. A true spiritual awakening is not all unicorns and rainbows and on this show we are not afraid to talk about it. Your awakened frequency is the frequency that will change the world. Enjoy the show. Hello, beautiful lights and souls.

Joya:

I want to dive right in today and talk about authenticity, because I keep seeing this reel going around that says authenticity is the highest frequency that there is and I'm like no, it's not, and so I wanted to talk about why it's not and what this study actually shares. So it's called the Spain scale. This authenticity is the highest frequency, higher than love, is based on this study called the Spain scale S-P-A-N-E, which is the scale of positive and negative experience, and it measures positive and negative emotions over time, and it doesn't actually rank emotions by vibrational frequency in any measurable scientific way. And I think people just started saying that, comparing this study to David Hawkins work work in Power vs Force, because when we talk about frequencies in the context of human emotion and consciousness, we're definitely mixing metaphors here, because there isn't a way to measure the frequency of an emotion other than how it feels, or if you've been downloaded a spiritual technology, but scientists so far can't measure it vibrationally Other than with your biofield. Heartmath Institute's doing its work, but that's not what we're talking about here. So what I actually believe is closer to the truth is that love is the highest frequency.

Joya:

Love is the highest frequency, but not preferential love, not the love that says this is my love, that's your love. But love as the source, love as a field, love is the actual vibration of consciousness that animates the intelligence of all things, and it's everywhere around us, all the time. And just like electricity is flowing through the air around us, waiting to be harnessed and expressed through a light. That's what this source does. It's the fabric of existence itself, and we are those light bulbs. And just like the electricity doesn't belong to the bulb, it flows through it. So there's an animating force of intelligence in you, in me, that's giving life to this body of intelligence in you, in me. That's giving life to this body. And when we are in our truest nature, we are attuned to this force that flows through us and we access it by being in the present moment and when we're plugged into it, we are aligned with this love consciousness, and that's when we light up and we're just in this effortless flow of being ourselves in the space of loving consciousness.

Joya:

And there's a Benedictine monk that I really love who has a quote that describes this so perfectly. His name was Brother David Steindl Rast and he said so perfectly. His name was Brother David Steindl Rast and he said Our true nature is the vital awareness that pervades all realms of our being. It's what brings us alive. And wherever we may come alive, this is the area in which we are spiritual. Wherever you come alive, that's where you're spiritual and that's where you're authentic.

Joya:

And he continued by saying to be vital, awake and aware in all areas of our lives is the task that is never accomplished but always remains the goal. We never get there because there's no self to arrive at. All of this work of the ego is fixing something, healing something, expanding something. Personal development, self-development is that there's this self to develop. And, yes, it does help you to align yourself with your goals, with what you want to create, to be a higher conscious person, to have more emotional intelligence as a human being. But is that really what makes you authentically you? Is the authentic you a self that changes? Or is there a self that you're identifying, that you think you're going to arrive at and that's the authentic you? Because what we naturally are seeking is already here, and I think that's where we lose it On our spiritual journey, on our spiritual quest. We think there's this other self, this other world, this other reality that we're just going to poof arrive at and we don't realize that it's right here, right now, with whatever we're doing. As the saying goes before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood, carry water.

Joya:

Our pure being expresses itself when we are doing what lights us up, when we're literally out of our minds, we're not thinking about ourselves and we're in the expression of pure being. And it happens in the present moment. And you can do it intentionally by putting yourself into a flow state, by doing those things that you love, that light you up. But you also do it in the present moment when you react in consciousness, when you see a need in front of you that you can fulfill, simple things, like a lady too short at the grocery store who can't reach the thing on the top shelf. You can get it for her. There's so many ways that we can meet the needs of the people that are right in front of us and in that moment we're being selfless and I think that ultimately, our true, authentic self is selfless. It's a paradox. Like everything in life, it's a paradox, and I was thinking about authenticity and the gene keys, because I am a gene keys guide.

Joya:

I've studied the gene keys for 11 years now and I wondered if what lights us up is connected to our deepest spiritual gifts, which I think it is, and that's who we are being when we're being in our authentic divine design. And these are the most refined expressions of consciousness that are available to us, and you don't earn them, you just embody them through clearing the obstacles that are in the way of that thing. And that's what healing is doing right. It's removing, it's clearing all of the obstacles that are in the way to that authentic, pure expression. So we embody these qualities like grace, compassion, bliss, ecstasy. My top four are presence, majesty, freedom and transparency, and I know that when I'm in those spaces, that's when I'm definitely most lit up. I'm not overthinking and I'm just being like right now, as I'm speaking and recording this podcast, I'm just flowing in.

Joya:

It so beautiful and your authenticity is so unique. It's purely unique to you. It's not like being, it's not about being like someone else, that's not being authentic. It's about being the clearest, most unobstructed channel for the light, because you are light, you are a being of light that you can be for source energy to flow through you to shine your light onto the world. And the less obstructions you have in your lens of reality, which is you as you're creating onto the field of the world of life, the less obstructions you have, the less things you're putting in the way of your creation. So imagine that you have a light that's flowing through you like a projector and you are the mechanism for this projection onto the world. And you have wounds that say unworthiness, shame, anger, resentment, lack, limitation, and you're projecting that onto the world as you're creating. And so really all healing work is is cleaning that lens, removing those wounds, healing them, healing them, and we heal them by accepting them, by feeling them, by seeing them, by knowing they're there, and I'll do a different episode on forgiveness.

Joya:

But to be vital, awake, aware in all areas of our life is the task that is never accomplished but always remains the goal. And Carl Jung also said something along those lines when he said it is the privilege of a lifetime to become who you truly are. Privilege of a lifetime to become who you truly are. And there's always somewhere else to get. So we want to be alive, fully expressing who we are every day that we're here.

Joya:

And one of the things about grief that it does is it unplugs your default mode network, so all of those constructs of reality that you built before around who you think you are are gone. Constructs of reality that you built before around who you think you are are gone. And so it brings me so present into how I'm living my life and I don't speak so quickly anymore and I just kind of take a little pause and I feel more than I think to what's going on in front of me to like, so I can respond not to the wounds of people around me but to respond to the light of the people around me, because the light that's in me is the light that's also in them and that's the light I want to speak to. And when we are our authentic selves, tuned into source, tuned into the frequency of love, we become the frequency that other people, other frequencies around us entrain to, and sometimes, in awakening, you know, as you're going through a spiritual awakening process and you have to go back into an old situation where you used to be and you put on that ego mask that you used to wear. It feels so awkward, it's like, oh my gosh, this used to be who I was pretending to be, but I didn't realize I was pretending to be it, because now that I'm not doing it, I can see the mask.

Joya:

It becomes really clear, because underneath all those masks is your authentic self. Clear, because underneath all those masks is your authentic self and it's the self that you are truly buried beneath the original wound the ow, as I call it, that original wound that created the original separation from you and your true nature, your true presence as soul expressing itself. And you put on that ego to protect you from yourself, which is really what it is. This part of me is dangerous and I don't like feeling this way. I need to protect myself from myself and you start creating from this ego projected self. But underneath all of that, underneath all of these masks, underneath all of these wounds, underneath all of the lies of shame and unworthiness and the not enoughness or the too muchness is that we're already perfect, we're already whole, we're already what we're seeking, we're already it.

Joya:

It's like this great paradox, and the job is not to become spiritual, because that's just another mask that the ego wears. The job is to remember that you already are spiritual, because your true nature is a spiritual being, having a human experience, which you've heard that said before, I'm sure. But to really feel that heard that said before, I'm sure but to really feel that you are truly a multi-dimensional being of light, encapsulated in form, as a self, as an individualized self, having an expression of reality through these eyes, then you're having your own individuated experience that nobody else is having, even in your own home. Think about that. Like your partner, your children, your animals, everyone right now, if you're sitting in this exact moment, everyone's having their own thoughts and their own expression and their own experiences of life. It's pretty fascinating when you think about it, when you think about it. So I invite you to be who you truly are, to feel into that and to live into that.

Joya:

And that's what my talk is that I'm competing in next week in Dallas, so excited, and I want to end this talk now. I'm going to keep it short today by saying that love is the highest vibration and you are your most authentic self. When you are in that expression of love and you know it because it lights you up, you feel good, you feel expanded, you're not afraid of yourself, you don't judge yourself anymore and you don't judge others either, because everyone's on their own journey and we're all one thing. We're all one. Separation is an illusion, so I want to share this how to be unshakable. I wrote this to share with all these beautiful women I'll be with next week.

Joya:

How to be unshakable. Root in your truth. Let your radiance be non-negotiable. Say yes to what lights you up and say no to what dims your fire. Build what your soul sees and stop waiting for certainty. Start trusting what feels holy. Let your inner yes be louder than your fear and remember who you are and never, ever, abandon yourself for someone else's comfort. That's it, beautifuls. I'll see you next week.
